the haynes manual says i have to remove the starter to remove the transmission, but i can't get the nut to budge that holds the starter on. so do i have to take the starter off, or can i work around it.
FYI: i'm replacing the clutch.

Is there room to make a small 'moat' or 'dam' around the bolt out of clay? If you can; you fill it up with penetrating oil and leave it for 24 hours, the bolt may give. Used to do that with head bolts on Alfas.
