One of my co-workers had his beloved 230 SL get backed into. The car ended up being totalled after the repair estimate and was hauled off to the salvage auction.
He now has a 230 SL hardtop sitting in his garage. It is creme/pale yellow colored . . . and had a new headliner installed and the wood refinished several months before the wreck. The top was never mounted after the upholstery work was done. The paint is old and faded (as the rest of the car was), but the hardtop is intact and all trim is complete so the top can be used as is.
What is the value of a 230 SL hardtop? Anyone interested in making an offer? Probably a heavy discount for buyer picking it up! It is located south of Fresno, California.
