380sl Blower Motor Speed Switch

The blower motor speed on the 380sl I just bought doesn't change from low to high when I switch from "Auto Lo" to "Auto High" with the AC on, but it does get faster when I switch to Defrost.

Can anyone tell me what to look for here?
