88 260E Gauges problems

First off the odometer and trip meter quit working, second the fuel gauge started going crazy if it got below a 1/4 of a tank, the needle would swing to full and back to empty. Did this for about a week and now the gauge doesnt work at all, the reserve light now flashes speratically but the needle stays on empty. One more this i have a wobbling sound coming from under the car, could it be driveshaft or rear bearings? Thanks for your help...Mike

Wobbling sound most likely to be bad tire... Rear bearing would be like knocking but easy to check... jack up rear end... grab the tire and shake it... any play is no good.

Odometer and tripmeter is related and that means one of your gear is broken... most likely the E1 gear

Fuel gauge... this can be your fuel sender problem... you have to change it.

Sounds like your rear end lost all the grease. Have it the fluid level checked asap

I replaced the fluid myself.....

do you know the trick in getting out the gauge cluster from the dash..the car is in excellent condition and i dont want to mess it up

It is supposed to pop right out... Insert a hook on the side of the cluster and pull it out. Make your own hook with a thin coat hangar
