Changes in '05 E-500?

I recently received an email from MB introducing the 2005 E Series, but not much detail was provided. Has anyone heard of any signigicant differences in the new model? Will they still have the computerized steering, brakes, and throttle? Hopefully they will make some software improvements over the '04 models, and improve reliability and quality control. Any legitimate info on the new '05 models would be appreciated.

I traded a 03 E500 for an 05 E55 and the changes are minimal. The computerized brakes are still there but modulation is much improved. I can't tell that they are not hydraulic. Not so with my 03.

My AMG is significantly quieter through the front wheel wells than the 03. I'm not sure whether this is an upgrade for the AMG but I doubt it.

There are a few changes to the AC control but they work essentially the same.

The 05 E500 supposed to get the new 7 speed automatic but you might check the website to make sure that they have switched over. My AMG has the 5 sp and to be honest a 7 speed would be a waste. It could easily get by with a 4 speed and still be lightin fast.

I have not noticed any glitches in the software or audio problems. I think they after 3 years they have sorted them out. If you want a MB phone you're gonna have to wait. They are a dealer installed add and are on national backorder in the states. It is an all new system but still uses a Motorola V60i handset as far as I have been told.

You will love the car. I hated to get rid of my 03 but I had been waiting for the E55 for a year and half. Let me tell you, it was worth the wait. It kicks a** and takes names. I have a nitrous injected Vette that might keep up, but it would be close. I embarrassed a Z06 Vette today. He never saw it coming. It's a complete sleeper. the E500 is a 14 sec quarter car which ain't no slouch. That's faster than my 89Vette was stock. By the way my Mother got my E500 and she's been driving a 2000 S430. She loves it. Just as comfortable but much easier to get around in.

I think they exaggerate when they call themselves "MBWORLD"

There are no Unimog or Sprinter forums.
