He drove it for a short time. I dare him to own it for 50,000 or more miles and then tell me how he likes the disco of flashing lights on the dash for something as silly as a loose gas cap, or a check engine light that cannot be put out, not even by trained Mercedes Technicians - or for that matter - a battery of NASA engineers!! And a repair budget that would break NASA.
That pretty much describes my C class. My first and probably only/last Mercedes I will ever buy again.

UK prices are significantly higher than USA prices. MBUSA.com shows it starting at $90,000 ( about 50,000 pounds I think ).
UK prices are famously not low...
Plus, i) this price is not the starting price but of the model tested, an AMG.
ii) the price quoted includes a tax of 17.5%.

We've owned a CLS500 for about a month and quite like it. It replaced a BMW 745i which made a few too many visits for warranty work, mostly electrical. We've been a BMW family for some time (Z3, X5, M Roadster, 330Cic,
745i, M3 w/SMG, MINI Cooper S) and while I dont think the CLS' road feel is on par with BMW's, it a very pleasant and capable car. My only great disappointment is that M-B's DVD Nav system is nowhere near as detailed and competent as the BMW CD nav in the 7 series. That said, we like the CLS enough to order a new ML.MotorsForum website is not affiliated with any of the manufacturers or service providers discussed here.
