Display too dim

Suddenly the dashboard display (Radio/Phone etc.) has gone dim in daylight and the adjustment button has no effect. Maybe coincidentally the automatic windscreen wipers do not stop when the rain stops. Any

Either the rain/light sensor in the windshield died and/or the ribbon cable between it and the overhead control unit [front dome light] went bad.
