E300 abs/ets light problem

Help

I have a 97 E300D, the ABS/ETS light is now permanantly lit and my "mechanic" (not a merc specialist) cannot fix it.

Looking on various forums it is suggested that problems with the brake switch seem to cause this problem with the E320.

Can anyone tell me whether the E300 has the same switch and consequent problem so that I can go and shout at the mechanic.

Thanks Guys

Have the car been jumpstarted recently? It may be possible that your overload relay fuse is blown. Diesel and gas engine car is not that much difference electronically so the brake switch may be the right solution.

My mom's E320 had a wierd fluke... ABS and ESP would say error upon startup but once we shut it down and restart... no error. The problem only happens when cold and rained last night... otherwise, no error other time.

Thanks Tiger

I spoke with the mechanic about the brake switch and he says he has already changed it twice, and the sensors and the associated loom.

But I did try to jump start it after I ran out of deisel and ran down the battery trying to restart it, thats when I sent it tyo the garage to get fixed, so feasibly it could be that the brake switch was dud before when the light first appeared and jump starting it blew the relay fuse.

Thanks again!!
