instument panel removal ’80 300sd?

Is their a special trick, (hidden screws, clips etc) to remove the instrument panel to get at the dimmer switch. Can the switch be repaired or must it be replaced. Thanks in advance for any help. Ken

they make 2 hooks that look like mini ice block hooks. OR pull neg battery cable off then get 2 coat hangers bend one end of both at a 90 degree angle. . slide the hanger between the cluster and the dash. one on the left one on the right. turn the bent hooks so they catch the back of the cluster and pull it out SLOWLY. the reason for pulling the battery is on my older i hit the clock wire and it grounded on something. why take chances.

now get ready to unplug all sorts of plugs get your self 2 new dash bulbs . i just jumped the dimmer on mine. first time i 3 years i could see how fast i was going.

on there HI setting there not real bright but if you already have the dimmer put it in.

it also runs all the heater button lights ETC.

the case, minus a few cans!
