MB 380 SEL 1980 idle problem

When cold the idle to high. When warm the idle to low.

What can be wrong ?

Cold 15-1800 rpms Warm under 500 rpms and sometimes the energines stops.

This is from memory, so please forgive if it's not exactly accurate .. There's a little valve in front of the air cleaner that controls the idle speed. If you tap on it with the handle of a ratchet or something like that while the engine is running and the speed changes, then you have found your problem. (there is a knob with a slotted head for adjustment on the unit)

No, that's is one part of it... The majority of cause is the idle control computer... located in between the two firewall... in the middle... that black box.

Reman is around $100 I think.
