Most expensive Mercedes

Hi there

I just want to let you know about what we have to deal with in Denmark, if we think about a buying a fine car like a Mecedes Benz.

Due to special taxes we have the most expensive cars in the world.

A small car like the C 240 costs 120.000 US $ (leather seats incl).

A large model like the Sl 600 costs 470.000 US-dollars which is just a little too much for the most of us.

(Danish car-database - 1 $ is six danish crowns)

But it is a lovely car.

There is a small danish firm, that spezializes in making these fine cars even better.

Ever heard of them..?

Well - Denmark is a democracy run by a liberal government at the moment.

But the prices on automobils are insane.

A standard Chrysler PT Cruiser is 61.000 US dollars. A gallon of petrol is

5,50 US dollars.

Not excactly the most car-friendly country in the world. :-)

Singapore is even worse.

It doesn´t seem like it.

An SL 500 is 350.000 US dollars in Denmark and that is 65.000 US dollars more than in Singapore.

In New York an SL 500 is just 89.000 dollars - that´s like a Volkswagen Vento with a V6 and AWD in Denmark.

Wonder why everyone is not driving SLs in the US.. ;-))

but even a tiny economy car costs a fortune there - although, diesel cars were always taxed less heavily aswell as the fuel.

Hey Jan! For those prices you shouldn't have to pay for fixing them and that reduces the cost by 30% of the car if you keep it for 6 or 7 years. Hang in there and feel free to send some Danish women to Richard and sum ta usns down hear under tha bridge! :-)

mcbrue 30%ishly under the bridge in the trailer down by the river

It works the other way 'round. If you buy a car from a danish dealer and export it, you get your taxes back. And as these taxes are so ridiculous, many manufacturers sell their cars in Denmark at a quite low net price.

Re-imported cars have quite a share amongst cars sold in Germany, as they are cheaper than the cars usually intended for the domestic market.

Exactly. And anyway if you have a discussion with localhost does that mean you're really just talking to yourself?

Sorry. Voices in my head told me to post this.
