Mr. Schrempp's limo stolen

Very well armoured, but not well guarded.

"Bild blamed both thefts on organised criminals who steal expensive cars and ship them off to customers in eastern Europe."

1) Must have been ordered by one of the toppled Russian oligarchs who no longer has the money to buy new in a showroom.

2) Describing Bild as a "newspaper" is being generous, as it's 'king' of the tabloids :-)

There are certain countries where such activity is common and others where it is rare ( like Japan ).

Unless honesty is a function of genetics, the only thing that differentiates such countries is culture.

Culture should be a governmental responsibility because of its importance.

( Obligatory on topic reference) You would think that Mr. Schrempp would have had a driver.

greek_philosophizer haute in die Tasten:

I can very well imagine that Mr. Schrempp does not have one single car of his own, but chooses a car out of a car pool. I think he tells his personal assistant to order a certain car for him at a certain place and date and wether he wants a driver or not, and his assistant makes a phone call or two. Like every other top manager, Schrempp probably travels a lot by plane, but unlike G.W. Bush he usually does not take his limo with him, so Schrempp probably never uses one single car very often.

And if I take inko consideration the share of true stories published in "Bild" (which is quite low) I assume that the fact was the follwing: A car from the executive car pool of Daimler Chrysler has been stolen. Period. Bad luck, but a few months ago VW had to admit that they were missing 100 Phaeton limousines from the company car pool;-)

Mmm... would have been foiled if they put another aftermarket alarm system in it...

Doubt it. Just saw some figures for alarm systems in the UK, about the majority going off for no obvious reason and nobody responding.

There is a groundswell of support for banning them. Most modern cars have immobilisers.

It looks like some sort of automated program is generating or forwarding stuff.

I just started to notice this problem... darn!

Reply to
Tiger

Yep, looks like it.

For what it's worth, my regular e-mail address that I use for business has taken on an independent life in cyberspace. Every now and then I get a rejection notice from some company's server, telling me that I sent a virus... In just about all cases I have had legit contact with these companies. I read that this problem is quite widespread.

Probably some poor sods are getting spam, maybe offers of Viagra or a US Green Card, from 'me'... :-)

Actually this is a virus propogating itself among windows boxen, while spoofing other people emails addresses. Extremely annoyinng.

It kind of looks like these crazy messages always seem to follow Tiger or T.G.s posts?

I wonder....
