re 124 speakers

hi anybody got advise on suitable "high power" i.e around 40w speakers for the dash of my 124 300e? can't seem to find any 120mm units listed. Is there an adapter for other sizes available?

cheers kevin H

Most people seem to silicone cement slightly smaller ones into place.

There is no such thing as an exact size match for the 124. Aftermarket coaxials for the front: four inch. For the rear: 5.25 inch. MB Quart, excellent coaxials are available discounted online. After removing the rear grills and unclipping the awful o.e. speakers, simply lay a bead of silicone adhesive around the edge of the plastic, circular mount and lower the new speaker into place and replace the grill. Of course, all aftermarket quality speakers are four ohm impedance, designed to be driven by a head unit which puts out four ohms. The outdated Grand Prix tape/radio unit comes out in less than five minutes with no tools. To do everything the correct way means running new wires from the new CD head unit to the speakers. Do not use the leads coming off the dirt-collecting o.e. fader. Any new head unit will have an electric fader built into it. P.

Replace front o.e. speakers with four inch coaxials. The rear takes 5.25" coaxials. To install the rear speakers, lay a bead of silicone around the circular plastic mount and lower the driver onto it. P.
