Replace Merc Badge on bonnet

This is probably a simple question. Does anyone know how to fit a new NB badge on the bonnet of a 230TE?.....It looks like it might be able to snap on without dismantling.....Or do I need to take the new assembly apart? Some doom brain thought it funny to pull the old one until it broke!

Thanks in advance Ed Sturtivant

Dunno what model you've got.

On my 123, it just drops thro the hole in the grill top. Then from under the bonnet, you just turn the flat U clip (over the spring) by

90deg and it locks into place. If you have a new star, don't play with it. Its armed and dangerous and set to lock in when you twist it. Its got a real strong spring that'll provide you with a trip to casualty if you trap any part of your anatomy in it.

Cheers. Rob.

Installed one on a 114 2 days ago, dead simple. Slide the clip under the bonnet/hood sideways, lift star base assembly through hole, use narrow screwdriver and pointed pliers together to lift and turn coil spring out of slot in collar, hook spring into base of new star emblem, poke spring down hole, slide collar over spring, lift/turn end of spring, done. Needed packing behind collar, used bent wire. Insert assembly through hole in bonnet/hood, slide clip across again. Sorted. Done this on 116,

108, and now 114 - similar techniques with all. Bloody vandals. Plus a NOS star was only NZ$25 from Pete at
