Weird. I tried the VIN to my 83 300SD and got:

Datacard (vin) not found

1) VIN was incorrectly introduced in the form of demand; 2) VIN was incorrectly rewritten from the documents or from the body of automobile; 3) VIN was changed in the documents or on the body by criminals. 4) The automobile is made in 2004 or 2005, is not included yet in a database

I use Opera; I'm somewhat leery to try IE.

Also, if I didn't click on "full version"it gave me a server error of the type "Unhandled exception".

It's not always that easy with the option codes as over the time the text for a code number can change.

In this case 434 means either

A) Safety belts, front, U.S. version

OR

B) Headrests in the rear and elimination of safety belts

OR

C) 430 + 438 Headrests in the rear and elimination of rear safety belts

And NO, I do NOT know which of these three applies here, but my tip is C)

I got this too, using IE and the VIN on my 1987 420 SEL.

Is it because the program does not cover Mercedes W126 sold in the USA? Not sure what "VIN the American automobiles such as 4JGAB... automatically are not decoded yet" means.

That is the prefix for MBZ vehicles manufactured in the Tuscaloosa, Alabama USA plant (i.e. the M-Class and upcoming R-Class).

FYI, my (American) insurance company had to change their computer system to support this VIN (as it is not an american model).
