W126 wood - how to remove and replace?

ahoy:

i recently purchased a 1984 300SD with bad wood inside. i found a wrecked

420SEL with beautiful wood. i would like to swap all the wood (save for LF door and LR door). can someone offer tips to perform that job without ruining it? i'm particularly concerned about removing the door wood. thanks very much.

The door wood is the easy bit.

Using a small sharp pointy thing, bry back the black plastic thingy under the door catch. Now start undoing all the screws you can find (3 or 4 total) and the door panel is off.

Befor you get to that point, either the first screw or two into this you'll have the wood off.

thanks very much. are there any tips on removing the dash and console wood? i'd also like to replace the gear indicator if that's not too much trouble.

Just wait a bit. It usually delaminates and just falls off.

Or if you're in a hurry it's held on by small nuts from behind. Remove the glovebox door and you get access to some. Remove the instrument cluster (

) to get some more then remove thecenter console (where the heat controls are) to get the rest.
