Anyone got good or bad stories about the longevity/reliability of the
3.2 CDi engines? Been looking at the E-320 CDi W210 and am keen to hear if there are any known problems with these engines?cheers

In the US the cdi engine is only available in the w211 body
Yes, I was hoping that some of the UK-based contributors to this ng might be able to comment - thanks
Generally good reliability - all W210 E-Class CDI engines are basically the same, 200 and 220 are
4-cyl, with 270 one cyl is added so it's 5 and with 320 one more is added so it's 6 cyl (exception is E400 CDI which is V8).Fuel efficiency is very good, in Germany most-sought after is 270, good balance between cost and power output, _secret tip_ is 220.
200.000+ km seem to be no problem, 300.000+ is not uncommon and there's a number of taxis with more than 500.000+ km.Problems may be with the extensive electronics in these cars so check all functions and have the error code memory read out.

Thanks for the feedback!
Footnote: 2.2-litre diesel engines seem to be quite popular across several brands of car in Europe.
