I have a 2002 MiniS with 22,000 miles. Now and again I get a strange rattling/rustling sound that appears to be coming from behind the speedometer. Doesn't change with the radio on or off, or the climate system on or off. It is not speed dependent. Anyone have any ideas?
As a quick check when you hear the rattling - press down on the top centre of the dashboard - if this stops the noise then the repair is remove dash top and fit felt spacers to stop the noise.
