electric water pump..poser for you..

Not paying £150 for these aftermarket types and controllers, there must be some cars out there with them fitted as standard in the scrapyard? Anyone?

I need to run it on a hillclimb mini, it isn't very modified engine-wise (1275 with air filter and exhaust) but will need a reasonable capacity to cope with shut off at the top of the hill - intend to make it overrun like on a turbo car to reduce heat sink.

IIRC ,1990 vw Passat and Audi 1.8 and 2.0ltr, had a inline water pump/tabulator fitted somewhere in the top hose, these would run for a while after the motor was stopped, Fitzy

Never found a hillclimb long enough to make the engine overheat at the top. =8¬] An electric fan, or even the heater fan (if you still have a heater) should do the trick if needed.
