1990 Montero transmission temp light on

I have a 1990 Montero that the transmission temp light will not go out. Any ideas?

Does it come on as soon as the truck is started? If so, the temp sensor may have went bad and needs to be replaced.

If not, it could be a clogged A/T filter.
