The car is an 87 MItsubishi Mirage sedan with 1.5L engine and auto trans. It has 140k on the clock and the engine smokes a little bit. Recently there has developed a bad engine oil leak between the engine and the trans bellhousing. the leaking is too bad to keep driving. oil leaking starts after engine is started. I replaced oil pan gasket but the problem remains the same. So now it looks like the rear main seal. My questions:
- Could it be something else or just main seal?
- Is removing transmission difficult by a handy DIY? Are special tools needed?
- How many labor hours are usually charged by a shop for replacing a rear main seal?
Thank you guys in advance!
