95 Mitsubishi Eclipse keeps stalling

I recently purchased a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse for an auction, I can get it started, but if I do not keep my foot on the gas it will die, it drives great as long as you keep giving it gas, I have changed the spark plugs, put a new battery in it. But this ones got me stumped

We have had a lot of problems with the computers in this vehicle. Remove it and open it. If it is burnt you will be able to see it and smell it.

95 doesn't have the same capacitors as the 1Gs. They figured that one out by then. This sounds like an Idle Speed Controller (ISC) problem. In fact, I will bet on it. Takers?

What exatly is a Idle speed control? Does this just control the Idling, when the car does Idle it Idles real rough. My son put it on the machine yesterday but didn?t get any readings? It said no codes found.

This one doesn?t have a ISC but it did have the Idle air control valve, it worked great, thank you

I had it changed and it works great, now the only thing its doing once you start it you have to hit the gas on it to get it running and then it idles good, do you have any idea what would cause that?

Sounds like carbon fouling, which will kill the ISC. Of course, it could be the fact that the battery was removed and reset the ECU. That will take a day or so to settle down. It can't hurt to run some carbon cleaner through the engine and change the plugs. Look for carb cleaner at the parts store and follow instructions on the can. After that, change the plugs and be really happy about the smooth performance. You should do a carbon cleanign once per year. A 10 buck can will save on a 180 buck ISC everytime.

My son changed the IAC and it was doing ok for awhile, but not the check engine light is coming on and the RPM?s are jumping up over 4 as if you were hitting the gas on this car but your not, sometimes it will start right up and then other times you have to give it gas and then it purrss. Is there some adjusting you have to do when changing the IAC?
