FUEL CONSUMPTION - 2003 OUTLANDER

Hi,

I have an Outlander 2003 that "eats" fuel like if there is no tomorrow. That is why we are running out of natural resources, specially oil (PRETROLEUM-GASOLINE).

My Outlander is giving me between 150 and 180 miles per tank. No matter if I use it on highway or in the city.

Is this normal? Can this be a malfunction of something?

Thanks,

You should get about 600km (about 380miles) per tank according to Mitsu brochures. Your getting half that if you are really filling the tank to 59 liters.

Its a 2003: take it to the dealer for a check out under warranty.

For example my 2002 Gallant ES-v6 averaged 24-27 MPG (about 330-340 miles to a 13 gal tank) I think this is the same floor pan and engine as your outlander. Check for fuel leak under car while running or other losses. I had a Mitsu engine (6G72) Dodge minivan that had an injector separate from the fuel rail this is the only experience I have had with high fuel consumption on a 6G72. Do get to the dealer, a fuel leak could be dangerous. ALB

i get 375-400 miles out of a ~22gal tank on my '01 montero. same motor, bigger and heavier vehicle. something is certainly wrong with yours. got a stuck caliper? parking brake partially on?
