Outlander

Hi all

Just became the proud owner of the Outlander XLS in black- love it! Think it's great value and initial thoughts of underpower are offset by the sports mode tiptronic auto and the value for money in sunroof side airbags etc.

Your thoughts?

Yep, I have come to the same conclusion about a month ago. Overall, it had seemed to me as an unmatched deal. It has pretty good low end pick up too. As far as underpowered it's a matter of taste. It's not a sports car but it's plenty for hauling people around and it accelerates from 65 to 85 in no time too as it's right at the peak of its torque. I it with every option. It feels very solid inside and a nice looking to my taste. Prior to purchace I have driven just anything there is to drive in similar size and class except Korean ones.

For '04 they have the new 160hp MIVEC motors and with the roughly 20hp and 30lb-ft gain's it's a huge difference! This is the same engine that's powering the new Ralliart lines and the Sportback. It actually gets better gas mileage, drops the odd induction noise (I like it, but most people don't understand the engine is so quiet you actually hear the air being sucked into it!), and you don't have to worry how fast traffic is gaining on you when you merge. Outside of the new engine and a different material for the lower cladding the '04 is unchanged.

Nice ride all the way around though the heated leather seats are coming in pretty handy now.. it's only 25 degree's out! :)
