if you have to ask this question, perhaps running without a rev-limiter is not for you. without upgraded valve hardware, a missed shift could be ugly... you'd need to upgrade a bunch of stuff for any increase in rpm to be of benefit. if you are wanting to take advantage of some engine mods, you might wish to raise the rev limit but i would never eliminate the limiter.

Since you would actually go faster by shifting around 600-700rpm short of redline (where it takes you from just past the HP peak right into the meat of the torque at the next shift) I fail to see the reason to want to obliterate your engine. That particular V6 is meant for more midrange power than high-end scream. If you are going to need it raised enough to do any good it means you have already put in better hardware, including upgraded cams, valves, con-rods, pistons, a GOOD intake that can get the air in and an even better header/exhaust/performace cat that can get it back out and, of course, you have tailored all of these items to work together by their initial design. Otherwise, removing the limiter and trying to free-rev it like the idiots in fast and furious will simply result in a block of aluminum slag and a very expensive repair bill...all while you scream how unreliable the car is because you revved it way past specs...

Of course, if you really do want to remove it you need to go out and get your ECU reprogrammed or a piggyback computer that will eliminate it. Of course, you will take the time to have these properly programmed to take advantage of the above mods that I know you would have made before you did something so stupid as to want to rev it like an S2k....

Look in the paper. There is probably some idiot selling an AWD 2G. You'll get more torque and more HP and some cash back. Take the cash back, put it on some cheap mods, and you'll have twice the HP and torque and be happy...for a while.
