Anybody want a Golf TDI estate?

It looks like I should be the proud owner of an Integra Type-R by the weekend, so the Golf will be for sale shortly after.

It's a W reg silver estate, 90bhp TDI. Around 145k on the clock, tax, MOT, comes with two sets of wheels (alloys and a set of steelies), both with decent tyres. Comes with a large stack of history, and I mean

*large*.

Drives, stops, wallows around corners. Unsurprisingly good on Diesel, too.

Located in Ashford, Kent - looking for 1800 quid. I'll have to put the number on retention (unless JackH bought that Vauxhall van) and the ITR needs a little work so the car won't be available for a week or two.

Ooh... there's a track day on at Lydden on Saturday, you know. ;-)

The van... I've decided is a bad idea given it needs some money thrown at it (at least the chap has revealed this now rather than me working it out for myself having travelled several hundred miles to buy it).

Not with a car that urgently needs a cambelt...

Lucky escape, that.

BTW, any movement on the plumbing front?

Ooh, the Passat doesn't though. ;-)

I'm going to see if they'll let me book one session in the afternoon.

I don't feel the need to do a full day in it, just want to see once and for all how good / bad it is round a track compared to other stuff.

Aye.

Back to the drawing board...

They should.

BTW, Paul does work on 'ondas, doesn't he? I seem to have a little mechanic problem, or rather a lack thereof (not for discussion in a public forum, though).

You'll probably need a couple of sessions to get reasonably comfortable on the track, though.

Wanna buy a Golf?

:D

We'll see.

It's not like I've not had plenty of experience of pushing it hard on the road (1), and I was planning to start at the back anyway. :-)

I would... bar I really do need something with the extra height offered by a Berlingo etc.

If anything, a Multispace isn't ideal either really, as if Dads set up is anything to go by, I'm going to need something racked out in the longer term.

Someone emailed me the other day and asked if I'd be interested in swapping the Passat for a Nissan Stagea RS4V (2).

Tempting as it was, even the local 200SX / Skyline owners I know are all saying 'you'd be mad to trade the Passat for that'.

Saw said Stagea driving along today and it looked very nice, but not exactly going to be practical for what I need, methinks.

(1) 'Boring' as it might be, it's pretty surefooted and predictable overall. (2) Essentially a Skyline estate with RB25 turboed engine and a 4x4 drivetrain not dissimilar to that fitted to GT-R as I understand it.

It's from experience, my first session ever was very much of the "WTF am I doing here" kind.

I know what it is. If it's a slushy it's not really worth it but some of them come with a manual box and they're definitely worth the bother.

Very rapid emergency plumbing service car, that :).

After the 'Great Super Rod Disaster of 2002', I'm fairly confident this'll be a walk in the park by comparison.

if you're that intrigued as to what exactly it is I'm wibbling on about. ;-)

Urgh!

Indeed.

You're not helping, you know.

Fair enough, hadn't seen that.

Hehe. I think you're safe as most of them have the slush box.

I've heard that before somewhere...

One of them appeared near us. Looks very understated and nothing like a Skyline estate at all(not brash like a lot of Skylines look and doesn't appear to have the long bonnet that the 6 would require). Could be real good fun for scaring german car owners almost anywhere, at the light, down the lanes, on the motorway.
