Big, Quick Cars ?

I'm struggling to think of many replacements for the TI. I want something big, and quicker, for reasonable money.

Legacy B4 RSK and Galant VR-4 both appeal - both make 280bhp.

or possibly a GTS Skyline - although these seem very highly priced compared to the above two !

What are Japanese nutter-cars like to own ? Parts and Maintainence costs ? Reliability ?

The Maptun stage 5 costs about £3,510.48 ontop of the cost of the car. Stage 6 appears to be POA.

Here is a review of the specs of an Aero.

How about a Nissan Stasia (I think that's how it's spelt) it's a single turbo version of the Skyline GTR engine in a big estate. (looks too square for my taste but they don't fetch as much as there better looking rivals)

I was thinking they would probably be a bit steep compared to the VR4, B4 but a LHD '95 M5 for £9200.

Thats why I was thinking £3-5k 9000 Aero, with £5k Maptun stage 5. 350-

390 BHP through the front wheels :)

Stasia? Nissan Stanza, perhaps? Don't know anything about them, but I've never seen one so they must be pretty rare, or completely unnoticeable.

I've always wanted a Nissan Cedric. I don't know anything about them either, but I like the name.

As for suggestions, I'll throw in: ~95(N) M3 (o.k., so it isn't bigger, but it is quicker) ~97(P) audi S6 ~98(S) Audi a8 4.2 Quattro (300 BHp 4.2 V8!! :)

Stop searching, forget those turbo'd dwarf-engines and think BIG! Open your eyes and there it is: ......... Porsche 928 S4, GT or GTS.

A 1989 S4 or GT is yours for about 5500 UKP. 320 non-turbo charged horses and V8 5 liter. You can go up to the 1995 GTS V8 5.4 liter. (350 Hp). They can be had in automatic or 5 speed gearbox.

One of the most underestimated Porsches of all times, beats me why but had no regrets taking advantage of it.

Build like a tank, drives like a rocket!

Arn't they known to be a money pit when they start to go wrong, if you get a bad one though?

I want factory-power really. Tweaked cars are always less reliable :/ Shame they don't do the big SAAB with loony power.

Both are showing their age now, and 10,000 on a 12 year old Vauxhall is madness !

Both have absolute loonatic running costs. Carlton's brake discs are a thousand quid for example (although obviously aftermarket will be much less) - ditto the clutch. The same also applies to the Galant, to some extent. The Legacy shares most things with the Impreza, so no problems there.

But that's just madness :)

It'll eat clutches and gearboxes and tyres weekly, and it'll drive like shit :)

"Wheelspin at 100mph in 5th sir ? No problem !"

I don't rate the M3 at all I'm afraid - no 4WD, MAJOR image problems, and they're common as muck. Don't like the looks either.

For approximately eight grand ?

Stupidly big ! As with the M5 and Carlton, I imagine most parts will be silly money too :/

Do you know one performance car when it goes go wrong which isn't?

I've got 2 other performance cars: a Ford and a Honda. I rated the Honda mechanics and Porsche mechanics at the same height but no Ford-mechanic will ever touch my car again.

You want a money pit? Buy a performance car made by Ford, Opel, any main stream car maker. When they go wrong (read:after 5 years from new) every visit to the dealer will earn you a big bill, a car which ain't properly repaired and most likely with some extra damage caused by them.

Sorry, got the experience and scars which go with them.

Fair enough. I guess that is why I'm driving a 19 year old Saab, rather than an 8 year old Vauxhall/Ford.

I'm getting the most bang for buck I can, and outside the main dealers, the Specialist/Mechanics tend to be owners/enthusiasts for the cars, as well as working on them.

can't remember if Maptun is Factory approved, or whether that is Hirsche territory now.

In addition to my previous criteria, I don't really NEED the space, I just like it.

Something like a Supra Turbo would be fine, but they're too much dosh. I don't really wanna spend more than £8K, and you can only pick up old shitbox Supras for that sort of money :/

What about a V8 Range Rover with a handling pack and large diameter road tyres and an LPG conversion?
