bp ultimate results (some more)

I've been running the Vito on ultimate for the last few months and, over the last week, I've started to put "normal" diesel into it

the results are quite strange but see what you think

it's quicker at the top end, as in it revs to around the 4500 rpm now rather than just coming to a stop at 4300 rpm before it feels like it's got more power at the top end, BUT it also feels very dead at the bottom end this may be down to the fact that you can feel the turbo kicking in now as before it was a seamless power delivery from the word go it struggles at the lower end of the rev range, by which I mean sub 1500 rpm whereas WITH the ultimate it would pull from idle in 6th the engine is a lot nosier, why I have no idea it's less fuel efficient, but not in the real world scope of things but the needle does go down quicker and the economy has dropped into the high 20's from the low 30's with ultimate though you don't really feel it because I've now done close to 17,000 miles and tend to top it up at the end of the day regardless

ok, so how does this tally with what everyone else has been reporting?

I find using 97+ octane fuel makes my new audi much more economical, were talking 100 miles to a tankfull more. =If i put £10.00 of normal petrol 95 RON in I see about 90-100 miles, if i use 97+ I can easily hit 130 miles, speed i dont notice alot of difference though.

Might try a tank of super in the celica then, especially as it made a=20 real difference to the Saab in the summer.

=A330 of fuel is doing about 180 miles which aint right, but they do=20 overfuel by default at WOT to preserve the engine.

Hi all I have just discovered this result... use to use tesco unleaded fuel, car ran ok but did pink from time to time, now I have tried Esso super unleaded fuel and WOW what a difference car just wants to go and go on the motorway, have to ease off lots compared to before, going to give a long run at weekend and see the fuel return to compare miles to the gallon, will post findings once I have sorted it all out.. Something else I have discovered is that years ago you could see the B.S. numbers for the fuel on the pumps, on some pumps now there is nothing, does this mean that it does not have a B.S. where as some other places you can see the numbers !!!!!!!!

Europe. British Standards are now nothing more than a rubber stamping industry for European regulations which usually have a EN number.

Ah yes have seen some EN numbers but what about the pumps which don't have anything ????

Do the fuel stations have to show the EN numbers or the old BS numbers !!!!!!!!!

In article , snipped-for-privacy@Ronnny.com spouted forth into uk.rec.cars.modifications...

OK, filled up from just below the halfway mark with Esso super, on top of the remaining Tesco premium that I had been putting in for weeks.

As well as that, I fitted the cone filter, and fixed what must have been a small split on an intake pipe, that turning into a total colapse (where the intake joins the turbo inlet) when I moved the pipe work to fit the cone filter.

Did 181 miles on Saturday and this morning, mainly motorway, and about

20 miles local roads (40 and below). Filled up for the week today again (Esso super again, bloody 88.9p instead of 81.9 for premium). Did a calculation on what miles I had done, and fuel used. Got 30.9 to the gallon. Don't know whether that was a) New air filter. b) fixed intake pipe (although that should have made it run lean if anything) c) Good motorway run to blow out the system. d) Superunleaded instead of premium.

or just a good combination of the lot.

Happy bunny though, best I ever got 25MPG before, normally arround 23.

Normally using Tesco unleaded, tried Esso supermyself as I had good results with it in the past with other cars.

Got 30MPG for the first time. That was on a good motorway run. Similar mileage to a normal week, but not normal driving pattern, all done pretty much in one day. 90% motorway instead of about 75%
