Capris

What's a decent one cost? Preferably in something obnoxious like orange or yellow. Or met Gold...

Eye burning orange was great. Get one with a vinyl roof for added '70's-ness

Depends which model -Decent MKI Capris which came in these colours seem to go for around £2K+ depending on engine size etc. A decent MKIII (1.6 or

2.0) car can be had for around £700 if you know what to look for. I recently sold a black 2.8i, with 10months MOT and 5 tax on an A-plate for £1250 and it was mint, 2 owners, always garaged.120K miles. I bought it for a grand.. Only thing to watch out for is rust. Everywhere, especially strut-tops, arches, boot floors, a-posts, floors and the front edge of the bonnet. Other, mainly standard Ford Parts are cheap as chips and you can loads of them s/h off ebay. Heater fans fail and are a PITA to replace though.]

I'd recommend a 2.8i, debadged with 7 spoke RS alloys. Great fun (especially when it rains)They're not as scary as they are made out to be though. In the dry there's loads of grip and you'd have to be doing something really silly to lose it. Drive normally in the wet and they are fine, but they do get a bit tail happy if you try too hard :-) Insurance on a classic policy cost me £210 a year when I was 27.
