Doh

Well thats the XS finished off then. Did a rally last night, and managed to hit a BFO rock (like basketball sized, but more jagged) and put a big hole in the gearbox. Luckily its in the flywheel end so is still driveable. Unfortunately i do not have the time or space to change a gearbox (and the other little bits that are broke), so looks like it will be a cheap runabout until the new year sometime ;(

So if anyone knows of a super cheap (i'm thinking under 150 now) car in the South, let me know.

And if anyone wants an XS that needs a bit of work, let me know.

Carl, where abouts are you in the South? A mate of mine's looking to sell his C reg Golf 1.6GL, near immaculate condition with 105k on the clock, and he's after £300. Not sure how much MOT, but I know it's been very well cared for and would probably have no probs getting an MOT (though I think it's got a fairly long one anyway).

Thats the chart i've been working with for a year now, but i'm getting tired of fixing it all the time, so am just gonna cut my losses and get something cheap with a long MOT and hopefully spend no money on it. I've seen a Volvo 360 GLT 2.0 C reg for £225. 110bhp, RWD, crap handling - could be a laugh :) Think i might end up sepnding more money on it than the XS though!

Watch Top Gear? You want a Toyota HiLux 2.4D you do...

They're actually INVINCIBLE. It was under water, in the sea, for over 5 hours, including rolling onto its side. They drove it into walls, and a tree, dropped a caravan on it, set fire to it, and hit it with a wrecking ball.

Still ran...they replaced no parts...

Hmm, navigating will get easier. Just plot a straight line from point to point, and follow it by compass. Hedges, walls etc will just part.

And while they can get a decent speed up, the straight line approach is best, as you don't want to try to go round corners.

Starngely enough thats exactly what my boss said! Shame its way out of my price range, otherwise i'd be tempted. I'd love to own a pickup!

you need a banjo, and be related to your cousin by marriage (that is direct marriage to her), have a pet pig that curls up by the fire with you, and consider more than 3 teeth a waste to truly appreciate a pickup.

Oh, and start growing that mullet, by the time it is fully formed you should be able to pickup a ropey one.

In news:tFTlc.3749$7S2.1513@newsfe1-win, ¤¤¤ Abo ¤¤¤ decided to enlighten our sheltered souls with a rant as follows

My SD1 Vitesse was written off by a woman in a courtesy Corsa. I yelled, until the cop that was dealing with it asked me, in front of her, whether he should prosecute her for dangerous driving.

My reply "if she tries to bang in a whiplash claim, yeah.. oh, or if she tries to dispute it was her fault"

Cop grinned, she grimaced, and I had a full admission of total guilt from her :-D

Sounds like someone somewhere doesn't want you to drive for a while.

Abo they had better not try to class the damage as knock for knock given the car is not yours but driven on your insurance policy. If that is the case, will you loose double the normal NCD loss (or an inflated insurance premium when a 'protected ncd' renewal is due.).

Lol true! Although the courtesy car has a 100 mile a day limit on it and I've got to go to Nottingham/Stafford and back today. Good job I've now got someone shadowing me so he can cover my paternity leave/holiday... Just hope he can find my house this morning :)

A one hundred miles a day limit? Blimey! One of the courtesy cars I had for three days came back with just over 1,000 miles on it! :)
