Very nice, but shame it doesnt have a gearbox :( might be a bit of a job trying to mate a Fors Sierra box with a 800bhp F1 Engine :)

Anyone know how much to fit with tamer cams, sprung valves, a custom ECU and drop into the back of an Elise or front of a caterham?

How much does an Elise or Caterham engine actually weigh? ISTR reading that some F1 engines around 2002 were only around 115-120kg. Surely it'd be more fun to drop that into something that needs the power - like an old Scimitar, Capri or MGB... :-)

These engines need to be fitted to something very light. They're only 3 litres and push out 800bhp and very little torque. Plus they only last two races before needing a stripdown and rebuild.

I wonder how long they'd last when used in a road car (as in not caned constantly).

You'd definitely stall the car every time you tried to drive off.

The key is to drop the rev limit down a bit and be happy with 600hp.
