Fiesta Rev Counter

Hi, I have an L reg ford fiesta MK3, just the standard model. I would like a rev counter in it though. Would it be possible for me to take the Instrument Cluster with a rev counter out of another MK3 fiesta and put it in mine? will all the wiring be in mine for it?

Thanks Allot

Should think so, if not it's easy enough to run a wire from the coil -neg terminal.

Yes but your 93 Fester will have DIS ignition. I challenge you to find a coil on it!!!

So how is it done in the fiestas that are the same age as mine then and older?

You need the instrument cluster from a tacho equiped car with the same engine as yours. The wiring from the DIS unit to the back of the dash is present already.

the coil is mounted on the block. 2 coils, 1 box.

Yeh, got it, thanks Works :)

7 numbers on the rev clock, never goes past 2 tho, lol, the car seems to be really pushing it at 2, so not much physical action

Thanks

You've got a cluster from a coil equipped car then. You get half the number of pulses from a DIS car to that of a coil / dissy car, so the tacho will read half engine speed.

Thus your 2000rpm is actually 4000rpm.

A coil is a cylinder about six to ten inches long and two to four inches across. You can find it easily because there is a spark plug lead from each spark plug to the distributor, and a fifth spark plug lead from the distributor in the centre, to the top of the coil. The coil has a +ve and -ve terminal either side of this lead, marked +/-

If you haven't got spark plug leads / distributor / coil (like on my Ford, which uses some sort of miniature coils under the cover), I dunno where to look but the rev counter probably won't be so easy.
