first small burnout!

well i'm not one for such chav like behaviour but i was late :)

reversed off my drive and had a quick look at the clock in the car 2:40pm it was and i had an appointment at a job agency for 3pm so 20 mins to do a normaly 20 min drive, park and run to the agency!

after realising this i brought the revs up to what must of been 2k-2.5k rpm and as i brought the clutch up nailed it down a bit more and turbo kicked in, lots of smoke and moving at 1mph at the most. i then wonder why the slow progress forgetting that i am planting the right pedal, look in the rear view seen LOTS of smoke and ease off till it slowly gains some traction and roll it to the end of me road :)

i always thought you needed a lot of power to do a smoking start like that but maybe not, the engine was nice and warm anyway from an earlier comute to the local shop. tyres were probably cold and the road colder making it easier :)

i'll be more careful i think and leave with plenty of time in future.

told my dad and unlike most parents all i got as a reply was 'go easy as you can't afford new tyres right now can you' most parents woulda been pissed! still as long as there's no oil stains and tyre marks on the drive there cool with most things.

Roads round here are greasy as f*ck. I'm getting wheelspin off the line in my Carlton, which is so slow that it normally takes judicious torque converter abuse to make it spin.

I've found that as I get older your parents get less parent like.

My dad tells me ace stories about how quick he got from one place to another and how fast he got suchandsuch a car to go.

I'm still not allowed to tell him stories about how fast I got from one place to another or my Vmax records in the various machinery I've driven but its a step in the right direction. (c:

He's also pretty pissed off that my old gearbox is still in his garage. I might remove it as his Christmas present, heh.

3 alloys and numerous oil containers :) plus anything else off my old MR2 Mk1 that i forgot to hand to carl :-P

heh, bet your neighbours loved that! As it turn out of my road its very greasy with a slight inclined normally. In the Volvo and MR2 i'm forever coming out crossed up, much to the annoyance of old people walking their dogs!

Just a damp bit of road will do it.

In drag racing there are normally concrete burnout pads that are covered in water. The car should drive around the pads and reverse onto them (so they get wet back wheels but not front wheels). Then the linelock goes on (if fitted) and off you go. The linelock just stops you going forward too much (can make the back end swing out a tad if not careful). Of course for fwd cars the front wheels go onto the pads.. and 4x4 - most just blast over them.

I have seen plenty of nova's and saxo's managing a burnout - so deffo does not require loadsa horses.

Without lsd you might find that only one wheel will light up (especially in a nova)

Yes but we all know Nova's and Saxo's and the like have absolutely no grip at all!

Lots of Power does indeed help :) These were taken Aigust Bank Holiday Monday 2004 (Yes, I also lost the mounting bolt for one of the headlights when I did it!!)
