For Sale : BMC CDA Carbon Dynamic Airbox (620 TI kit, but it'll fit anything !)

Anyone have any interest in this ? Chet, Vamp, Meatball ?

It's all boxed and brand new - I never got round to fitting it, although I did play around with it a bit to check fitment.

It's specifically a kit to fit the 620 TI, but obviously it'll fit anything else assuming there's actually room under the bonnet.

I'm sorted with a Simota filter, and cold feed mate. can't justify any=20 more expense in that dept ATM.

Would suit Vamp, and his overhot mid engine, but he's a doley again.

Oh well, our little Oirish friend with the Penchant for Carbon Fibre=20 should be along soon.

What does it actually do for the car?

Looks nice, sounds nice, never needs replacing at service time, standard induction kit stuff - except it's not breathing hot air as a K&N-like cone would, cos it's a sealed unit.

May give a power gain on some cars, no idea if it does for the TI or not. BMC say it does, but then they would wouldn't they :)

Will lower your intake temps substantially on a Turbo car (ie, more power) if you route the cold-air-intake approperiately. On top of that, the easier the Turbo can grab it's air supply, then the less hard it has to work to produce the given pressure, and the lower-still your intake temps will be.

These are apparently about the best filters around, which is why I bought it. Just never quite got round to bolting it on ! I was gonna fit it to the Pug, but I can't be arsed. If I decide I want to hear the Pug's V6 (cos it's silent as standard), then I shall buy another one of these for it (or fit this one if I can't shift it !).

Cost me £180, so I figure £120 is reasonable for resale, considering it's brand new. Maybe I'll stick it on eBay - I had thought it was a bit specialist for the Max-Power-brigade though...

Smashing bit of kit. They take some fitting in today's cramped engine bays and you have to be clever where you route the cold air intake, as the standard one could suck up puddles if they are deep / you splash through them.

The difference in sound is pretty much the difference between a BMW M3 and a BMW M3 CSL as BMW nicked the BMC idea for the CSL's intake. And the CSL sounds awesome!

I don't know why you don't fit it to your V6 Nom, it will sound lovely!

Didn't really want to start dismantling the Pug just yet - it's all new and shiny under the bonnet :)

But perhaps I will if I get no takers. They're silly money new - I thought it'd be pretty easy to shift on. Perhaps it'll be heading to eBay soon :)

It's their disclaimer. Mods of any kind are illegal in lots of places - they don't want a bunch of lawsuits, for obvious reasons !

Well give me a shout when you've got the moolah together, and I'll tell you if I still have it ! A couple of other folks have told me the same, so I guess it's a case of who can be first to raise the cash :)

I would have it, but its a oil based one, and they shaft up MAF sensors apparently, but it does look nice :)

Now sold.

Er, no they don't :)

The only way it could knacker the sensor is if you put way too much oil on when you re-oil it after cleaning after two or three years. And if you did do that, you'd simply need to clean the sensor to repair it.
