GPS

I'd like to get a GPS to put in my car so I can see exactly what speed I'm doing.

What's the cheapest GPS at the moment, second hand, that displays speed accurately? A little hand held one would be fine.

if you want it just for that, and cheap, why not go for 2nd hand? Check Ebay etc... I'd also budget for a ciggy lighter power supply (and a gps that can take one) as they eat batteries

I have no idea how cheap you can get one for second hand - depends how much the seller is offering it for. Try Ebay.

As for new ones, I bought my Garmin eMap 2 years ago and am very pleased with it. According to the handbook, accuracy of the speed reading is +/-

0.1mph. I think this is standard on any GPS, as due to the way the system works, the timing parameters of the unit have to be very accurate to have any chance of getting an accurate fix on a location.

An eMap is approx £179. Some basic Garmin units start at just over £100.

That's what I meant - I couldn't justify spending on a new one. Anyway... I just won an auction on Ebay for a Magellan 2000 for £50, hope that's not too inflated a price!
