'Heroes!'

Anyone else seem to see a load of these, when they're out in their modded motor?

Twice yesterday I had Saxo VTRs doing 'heroics' past the Rallye yesterday - one even, having screamed up my inside, cut the car in front up to make sure he could make the turning into Halfords in Dover... no, *really*.

Made me laugh, anyway. ;-)

When I was younger and (more) foolish, I fitted Lexus Lights to the 405. That was literally red rag to a bull, everything that was remotely 'racey'

*had* to get past. I even had a Corsa SXi 1.2 go the wrong side of a roundabout...

Starting a 2.8i Capri in the local boy racer Mcdonalds is like lighting the blue touch paper. You start it up and leave it there hunting a bit and they're there looking at the exhausts trying to work out if they're real ones or its a single split into 2 like those on the Corsas parked up.

And then you set off giving it some beans leaving a nice 11 on the tarmac as it squirrels out the car park.

And then they follow you onto the dual carriageway where you cog it down, blip the throttle and watch the expression on their faces as the fact it is a proper V6 dawns upon them.

Melton Lights.

The A class is hilarious - looks wrong, is diesel. Of course you bank on the fact that saxo/clio/106 driver has less than the 90bhp I have, and can't change gear.

hold brake, make it bounce on the throttle a bit, grin at them, then just nail it....

Ho yus, lots of Imprezzas and other Jap-crap in Bradford, they all give it some beans when going in a straight line, but soon bottle it in the twisties :)

It's all very light-hearted when I'm in the Locost though, at the next lights they'll usually wind their window down (usually letting a cloud of skunk smoke escape) and ask how fast, what engine etc. I'm gonna have to start telling 'em it does 150mph, when I tell 'em it'll do 90mph tops (gearing) you should see their faces fall :) I bet they just think "If I'd carried on racing to over 90..."

hehehehe, I love the warm/dry weather me :)

"Proper" V6 ? A push rod lump wheezing out 160hp when new ? I'd prefer a decent I4 with DIY fuel injection :)

IMHO of course :)

Ahem.

I'm looking forward to bringing the Rallye along to a mods meet...

Wierdly, I very rarely get these. Except for one twonk in a Seicento "Michael Schumacher edition" (yes, it really does exist as a proper Fiat model) trying to race me off the lights.

Heh - I wouldn't even try. Or I'd come in something else...

The BX doesn't attract a lot of such attention, mostly I think because I'm not on the roads at the same times as most 'Heroes'. That and apart from being G reg and designed with a set square, nobody really has any idea what it is.

The 306 isn't even fast enough to beat rice pudding away from the lights, but it does have a lot of dents in it, so when I want to pull a move, other people usually give way. (c:

Yea I think it's summet about Seicento drivers. The worst tho is when I commit the cardinal crime of wearing a cap (either cos it's sunny or cos I haven't had time to do my hair ) - that attracts old people to try as well :)

How can you see their faces from behind ?

There was a quote "It's older than you. But its still quicker."

Proper V6.....A Corsa SRi, Saxo VTS would leave it for dead.... Maybe it was fast once upon a time....When Bodie & Doyle drove it...

I think "always not doin' stuff down south" is more accurate ;)

Yeah, because you know, a Capri 2.8i Special has 160bhp (and a LOT more torque) vs what, 110ish for the SRi and MAYBE 120ish for the VTS, and weighs about 200Kg more than the Saxo (and about 100Kg more than the SRi). Or, about the same as the inevitable pile of spotty yoofs peering out of the back window.

Bodie & Doyle never drove a 2.8i/Special/280. Past their time.
