Hurrah !

*Finally* collected the Pug yesterday, after a long story involving the DVLA being a bit crap, and the Pug's previous-owners going on Holiday for a couple of weeks...

Drive home yesterday (about 3 hours ish) was sublime, and it's now sat outside in the carpark looking pretty.

I'm rather smitten - and I could certainly get used to this V6 lark. Smoooooooth :)

Failed miserably to buy a set of rims on the way home, from a *large* wheel supplier. They basically had nothing whatsoever that would clear the Brembos. A bit of testing revealed a couple of Pug-fit wheels (ET14) that would go on with a 10mm spacer (making ET4 !!), but they didn't have any suitable hub-centric spacers around - although they rekoned they do exist. The knowledgeable man said the Compomotive MO would probably go on, cos they have crazy brake clearance - a set of 18" would cost BAZOOKA money though, and I don't think they'd look very nice on a sleek coupe. Hmmm.

Stock 10-speaker JBL setup complete with boot-mounted-amp is *very* nice - so I've got stacks of ICE sat on my landing now, with no home :)

Hurrah for new cars !

Get yea the Megs out and treat it like a real lady.

Soft get, it will be an auto next.

Compo rims go overmost things, especially the motorsport stuff. Look up Oz and Team Dynamics too, as they are both involved in motorsport, but make more "Streetable" styles too.

10 Speakers playing "Just Bloody Loud" :). Haven't factory audio systems come on in the last few years.

in news: snipped-for-privacy@news2.newsguy.com, "Nom" slurred :

Cool. *How* long has that taken? Wasn't it pre-christmas when you agreed to buy?

Excellent.

:-)

Oh ah? Do tell.

DVLA suck donkey balls! i guess that's why things with them take so long :)

ah nothing like a 3hour drive in a new motor :)

smoooooth but i like the smooth-ness of my 2 litre turbo with the kick in the back when you need it :)

alloy shopping is a bitch of a job! plus alloys are exspensive! :)

that's good! my dad's S60 with it's dolby surround is one of the best in car standard radio/cd thingys i've heard! has a sub under the dash somewhere i believe! shame he only tests it on radio 2 and 4 though!

yep, loved the day i picked up my new MR2, no doubt you've made every pointless journey possible so far, like buying 1 stamp from the post office

3 towns away ect

still for me it's a shame your new motor is french but hey can't have it all :)

I bought a Citroen BX last weekend off a dodgy looking bloke from the London Village area. (c: He used to have some sort of Vauxhall Van.

I drove mine home (about 700 miles ish) in a few stints over the weekend and it was a bit noisy and a bit worrying as the clutch slips if you give it much more than featherlight throttle openings, but I made it. It's now in the street outside looking like the floaty, space age, crazy assed froggymobile that it is.

My last car is a 6cyl auto. I could get used to driving manual cars again...

I can't get the tape player in my car to play tapes and the radio reception isn't the best )c:

Hurrah indeed!

It's red with a brown and beige interior and the horn works (very useful for beeping at SUVs).

I couldn't handle the idea of there being less Rover 620Ti's in this group, especially after the demise of Lordy's so I bought Nom's off him and rather pleased I did too!

Aww I feel sorry for your homeless ICE. You coulda left it in the Ti for me to keep company ;) mind you, the standard stereo in it is absolutely rockin' (compared to the single 3" speaker connected to an MW/LW radio without even a tape player in the Micra).

Agreed. Especially when I've quadrupled my BHP and torque, whilst only halving my MPG :D And the comfort factor is improved by infinity. Grandad factor only reduced slightly, but at least it's more Granddad than Grandma.

Welcome back, we kept your seat in the turbo owners depot warm while you were toddling round in your granny wagon. We thought you were cutting it fine to get back in time, before the will to live sapped, and you had to spend 50% of your day in the pension queue, and the other 50% in the Micra driving there and back smelling of wee.

Quite possibly. AutoBox plus BIG power (like, 300bhp+) is my idea of nice :)

A set of 18" Oz rims will make a LARGE hole in my bank balance ! But yes, there are avenues for me to pursue.

I haven't done any serious research into it yet :)

They certainly have ! It really is very good indeed. Both the amp and the

6-disc changer are hidden behind the boot trim, and there's more than enough bass to make the rear-view-mirror-glass vibrate furiously :) It's easily on a par with the ~£600 setup I had in the TI...

Too bloody long !

Yes, a couple of days before. To be fair though, nothing was supposed to happen until the New Year anyway. And that's when the previous owners went on Holiday for a couple of weeks, meaning their new car's logbook (or the Pug's - I dunno which) wasn't available to make the reg transfer. Then the DVLA took the maximum possible time to make the transfer.

But anyway, it's all sorted now. And the 1000 miles I covered in January, were on the TI instead of my new car :):):)

Kenwood PSW-9524 headunit - top of the range thingy from last year. Does

*everything* in the world - you can even upload your own animations for it to play, and have seperate sound sources from front and rear speakers (ie, Radio in Front, CD in Back). All boxed, mint, as new.

Kenwood Graphic Equalizer - DIN size, fancy display, 5v pre-outs and stuff. All boxed, mint, as new.

Kenwood 10 Disc Changer - plays both CDRs and CDRWs. Mint, boxed, as new.

Ginormous Longmill sub box thing that I've had for about 5 years, and weighs an imperial fuckload. Makes some *serious* bass if you crank it up. Complete with internal amp.

Cheap 2-channel amp - made by Goodmans I think ? Sounds rather nice. 400w PMPO (Pisstake Measure-of Power Output) if I remember correctly.

Pair of Sony 6x9s that I've also had for about five years, and also sound rather nice. No idea what model or wattage, but they like the Goodmans amp above :)

That's about it I think ? Oh, I think I have some Kenwood 6" speakers too, from the front doors of my 405. Full range jobbies.

Plus stacks of cable for all the above, and there might be more things that I've forgotten :)

Reply to

Agreed :)

It doesn't hang about either, which is nice. I was expecting it to be a fair way off the TI's pace, but I don't actually think it is. Perhaps that's cos it's the 210bhp/285Nm lump, and all the reviews and stuff refer to the

197bhp/260Nm lump ?

Just as much kick in the back from this :)

Especially if you have STUPIDLY huge Brembo callipers. What a *glorious* problem for me to have :)

I think this must have a sub somewhere - I haven't really looked. It generates *plenty* of bass.

I'm already on the case there :)

I like my French cars, so that's a point in the Coop's favour for me :)

It's good innit :)

Touch-up tin is on the way, BTW. Poorman's 2nd class post, so it might take a couple of days...

You're right, I could :)

Yep - the standard setup isn't bad at all. The biggest flaw, is the 6x9s in the rear shelf - they only have a bass cone, and you get some mad muffled treble-through-bass-cone malarky coming from the rear sometimes. Get a pair of full-range 6x9s in there, and it sounds loads better ! Plenty of volume and clarity as standard though.

It loses Grandad status cos of the lovely colour - it really does improve the car *plenty*. You see now why I took so much trouble to find a Silver one :)

Oh, I think there might be four screws sat in the cubby hole under the centre armrest ? If there are, they're for the black oddments-tray directly under the head unit. I don't think I screwed it back inplace, cos the screw holes are a *PITA* to get to (ie, the whole centre-console has to come out). It's wedged in place as it is though, so they're not doing any harm by not being where they should be...

way to go! I thought everyone was deserting our little Ti "club" here ;)

did you not buy the alloys he had on it aswell, or do you prefer the standard 16's?

still aint got my new wheels - the preferred Miglia T12's wont be available for at least 3 months cos they only make a batch when they've got enough orders and the Rondell's aren't very readily available... the TSWs are tempting cos they are UK made, so prob easy to get hold of - just I'm not sure whether the extra spokes they have will be a little bit too much detail for the Ti - and also the centre bit where the bolt holes are is really small and I prefer the larger ones on the other two.... nice enough though perhaps.. hmmm

He did buy them !

He does :)

Stock rims had 2 illegal tyres though, and the 17s had 3 good and 1 ok :)

Wheel buying. It's great fun.

Not.

Ahh the 17's are really growing on me. I'm probably going to keep them on the car! Car doesn't half tramline on them though. Did you paint the calipers red Nom or are they like that from the factory?

I'm going to work in Hungary for 6 weeks and thinking of driving there. Reckon the Ti will make it Nom?

I liked em :)

Yeah, I found that - but only if the surface is a bit dodgy. It's fine if the tarmac is ok ?

The finest quality brake-laquer kit was applied by myself :) They could do with a good clean - them ceramic pads that are currently on, don't half make a mess !

formatting link
that bloke seemed to like em plenty, which is why I plumped for them. When them or the discs eventually die,
formatting link
will sell you a set of the Turbogroove discs and the Redstuff Ceramic pads for £150 all-in - which is nice :)

Don't see why not ? I'm not sure I'd dare though - if you break down in foreign lands, then you could be in a whole world of shit !

Mine tramline too - it's probably just having the wider tyres or sth.. in any case, it's not severe - it's just the first couple of times it happens that you go "whoah", or expressions to that effect.

You can get euro cover from the AA or RAC can't you? Never done more than about 220 miles in a single continuous drive in mine, but it (as it should) handles that perfectly well.

I'm trying to locate a set of 17" Oz Rally racings. rarer than rocking horse shit. The Celica used 15" rally Racings on gravel, and either 16" Compo MO or Rally racings on tarmac.

It was in 17" though because Subaru used them too. But that means the wrong offset and 10mm spacers. Although supposedly there have been some Toyota offset made too.

If I could find a set of them, luverly. Otherwise, it's finding a set of Gen 7 TTE 7 spoke Masitaly Toyota rims, or if I get desperate, 7 spoke Masitaly VW/Audi rims (same offset).

Well exactly - I'll be driving the same distance as I normally cover in a month, in about a day and a half. If big% of wear takes place on startup from cold and in stop-start town driving, then intercontinental driving should be fine. I'd better replace that one borderline tyre, although I might wait till Hungary and see if tyres are cheaper there (although 17" rubber might be quite rare over there as you don't really see Trabants on

17's do you?)

I have to drive through Germany to get there so I'll get to experience Autobahns :D
