Heh, true. This thread has, ironically when you look at the title, turned into a 'which banger to buy' post hehe!

Apart from the Alfa, I reckon you'll hate them all.

There is a reason why the build quality is better on a Cadillac BLS than=20 a 9-3.

You mentioned in another post about how poor the vectra build interior=20 was.

The BLS is built with Saab workers at Trollhatten, the 9-3 is built by=20 Vectra workers at Russelheim. So now a Saab is closer to what a Vectra=20 is, and the BLS is closer to what a Saab used to be.

Crazy I know.

Yes, I like that.

Update: it has been revealed that the old 'diesel only' rule is out the window.

What could possibly go wrong?

Just about everything. ;)

On the BLS front,

the bad points go in your favour for a couple of year old one.

I'm kind of leaning towards a 5 year old Alfa 156 2.5 V6 Q-System. (proper auto, not silly speed).

£4995.

Pay it off over 1 year, give to Katie, or keep for another year and pocket a £5k pay rise....

We have them every 10 minutes and 20 minutes on a Sunday. And even then the wait can be too much.

That actually sounds fair. Could you get that sort of deal a 166 and knock off another "car I want=20 to own" off the list?

Not many autos around, and Katie wouldn't want it when I've finished with it.

I thought going non-diesel wasn't worth the hassle?

Change in policy - it nearly went through un-noticed, until someone turned up at the office in an A4 2.4 cabrio.....

Then we checked with HR and were told that so long as we don't take the piss, we can have anything.
