Oi, Depresion

Are 6N washer jets the same as MK2 ones? Please say yes.

And, my mum's 6N 1.4 (94 or 95 at a guess, can't remember really) won't tickover right. Stalls when you dip the clutch. Have these got an ICV or is the a stepper motor controlling the throttle to give tickover?

I don't think so, but they may be interchangeable. (I think the 6N ones are rounder).

Quite a common problem, your local VW garage will want a couple of million (ok that may be an exaggeration) for a new throttle body but it's normally easy enough to just clean them up.

Cleaning the gunk from around the throttle seems to make quite a difference. Did for me anyway. That's with the motorised throttle, not an ICV.

Get it cleaned then plug in the scan tool and go through the re-adpation procedure. Fixes them in 90% of cases.

Slightly OT but if you have a chance you couldn't measure across the width of the bottom of the rear windows just behind the B pillar could you? (Glass to Glass preferably). The garage where my one is locked up and the owner away.

Is that a similar situation on a 1999 Golf 1.6SE auto, by any chance? It's idling badly and sometimes stalls when I'm about to pull away.

Need to fix it, because we've got to sell it - the car works well enough most of the time, but I don't want it to break on someone and if I can fix issues cheaply, then I'd rather do so than sell the car for peanuts because it doesn't work right.

Should be.

With the motorised throttle, you should align is after with VAG-COM.

Our Lupo used to stall very intermittently, and the throttle-body adaption fixed it. Made it easier to drive as well.

Darn. Beat me to it, and didn't read this before posting.

Even a 94 will have all this stuff? I take it I'll be needing Vag-com, a laptop and some funny cable?

Never mind, found out, about 10cm wider than the firewall material I was looking at.
