Not a factory fit unit, but a headunit? Getting bored with the poor quality of the Philips/VDO that was in the saab when I got it, and I don't need satnav that out of date when I have tomtom on my phone.
Seen the Parrot and VR3 budget offerings, and the Beat 550CD. They all seem to offer the same options, phone through the stereo, MP3/WMA cd, USB and or SDcard, and some offer either reverse camera or TV or some other widget.
My bluetooth earpiece works OK, but gets a bit annoying after a while, or very annoying if I forget to put it on when going out.
I think the Pioneer I took out of the V6 has Bluetooth but I never got round to using it. If you like I can dig it out of the loft and see and if it does it's yours for £50?
I had a previous VR3 in the Rangerover, even with the very clattery (mine was very clattery) V8 I could have conversations on the motorway.
Unfortunatley that got robbed by local pikies and put paid to me having any interest in getting the rangie going properly after that smashed the window which meant I would have to replace have the door with it, before I got round to setting up presets etc. Sounded OK though.
I've heard problems with the Parrot reliability on the R n' B and Halfords withdrew the RK8200 (the one with no CD and a cubbyhole to hide your phone/iPod/USB stick) as they didn't work. Which is a shame as they looked ideal.
Nah, the Rangie didn't move for a week because of mystery fault that turned out to be the dizzy cap and didn't have an alarm in, and wasn't parked directly at the back of the house because Alison needed to get out of the yard. So the local scrotes had plenty of time to check it out during the day.
I had a blaupunkt in the 900, a Sony in the 900 convert, a Silver Goodmans in the Octvia, a flashy looking Pro-Plus in the Saab too. None got broken into.
The Celica and Celsior had factory units that you couldn't remove the face from, and had no bother from them.
It's a Pioneer 6950ib - I think it's a jap import.
I bought it brand new from eBay from a place that sold loads of different ones. It arrived and the ISO adaptor that was plugged into the back hadn't had a socket put on, so it was just wires with a little (like 3-4mm) bit stripped bare about 1cm from the end, presumably so the end bits of covering could be pulled off easily when the plug was put on. I emailed the seller and he said he'd take one from one of the others, then emailed back and said they were all like that heh. The wires weren't roughly cut or anything, it was very obviously factory doing, very neat. So I took it to my local car audio place, who put an ISO plug on it for me, for £20, which the ebay seller refunded me :-) So that's wire each wire on the ISO plug has a bullet connector on it heh! Anyway, all in it only cos me £105 about a year ago. Has a cool little remote :) And all the boxes, manuals etc along with the case. Doesn't have the Pioneer dolphins on the display though :-( Instead the video is some little space ships flying around.
Anyway I don't need it for the 197 cos the head unit is MP3 compatible as standard, and I've also bought the Renault Tunepoint (£170 from dealers!), little box that plugs into the back of the headunit and sits in the glovebox with an iPod plug, an aux in, and a USB. When you plug the ipod in you can skip tracks/playlists, but as it goes into the CD changer, on the ipod it'll only let you flick between the first 6 playlists - not from folder to folder. But for some reason if you plug a USB stick in, it will let you flick between folders. Although once that was learnt it wasn't a problem, as I simply made 6 playlists, named 1 to 6 and made them up out of stuff I liked, trying to make each playlist a different genre. The beauty is it turns the iPod on and off with the stereo source, and it of course charges through the box too. So you never really need to take it out again if you fill it up good.
Well I initially thought the same as the microphone is behind the front=20 flip off panel but everyone who I've asked has said the quality was=20 fine. They said there was next to no background noise which is amazing=20 when you consider it is in a Capri with a custom built barely silenced=20 stainless exhaust. I certainly don't have to speak in a raised voice at=20 all.=20
Incoming audio seems OK but I think how good or bad that is depends on=20 your speakers.
Amazon are now doing them for =A379.95 inc delivery.

Me, a Sony in the 306. Incoming speach quality is great. Outgoing speach quality is a bit pants for two reasons:
The microphone is located behind the clip off front which muffles it slightly, but the biggest problem for me is:
The crappy Halfrauds single DIN adapter plate creaks like f*ck. Not so you'd normally notice it as you drive along with music playing, but because it's right there where the head unit is the mic picks up every creak. Loudly.
So get a good adapter plate!
OTOH the factory bluetooth in the Vectra is brilliant.
