OT:Laser detector or jammer

Seems like a good time to ask, I'm sure the jammers are illegal but haven't looked into it yet. I've just been looking at road angel (old one) with the windscreen mounted laser detector and an additional external detector for mounting near the number plate. Comes with a 12 month sub and I'm sorely tempted. What do you lot reckon is the best option with regards to detection/jamming equipment. I'm aware accurate close range laser detection is difficult.

The Origin B2 is the best GPS detector.

There's a jammer called an LRC-100 that can actually attach to the Origin B2 (on certain versions - I think they might have pulled the interface recently because the jammer, although not manufactured by the same company is illegal and Origin probably don't want to be seen to be endorsing that).

The LRC-100 can be used separately, but the cops have started noting the plates of all cars that give a duff reading and feed them into a central database. If your plate comes up on the database three or more times, you get a visit from local plod with a warrant to inspect your car and if they find a jammer, well they'll probably put you in a cell and stick the laser gun up your jacksie, without vaseline.

From a cost benefit pov it's just throwing good money after bad really. I don't tear arse around everywhere, just the odd rush of blood now and again and it's 4 years since the last highway robbery. It's more for the satisfaction of being or feeling i'm one step ahead and stopping the ratbags leeching cash at my expense. I've looked at the two devices you mentioned both quite pricey though, can't really justify it. If I was on 9 points then it'd be a much easier decision. El cheapo road angel classic with an extra number plate detector is looking favourite atm. There's an LRC100 on ebay. Just spoke to one of the mates, he's gonna let me borrow his for a week or so but dunno what sort it is yet.

hello,

You're wasting your money if you think you will avoid prosecution through having a detector. By the time the device has alerted you to a signal you have already been photographed. Jammers don't really work either as not all speed guns respond with the error message!

Total waste of money - i have tried them all and you will NOT find one company director or salesman who will show you the device in action - for a very good reason. Have a think about it. It's almost as bad as the false sprays that comanies con the public with by claiming a speed camera can't see your number! never had such a good laugh as ALL are visible, the sprays make them clearer to read.

Just keep to the speed limit, they are there for a reason - mainly for inexperienced drivers or the idiots that want to drive faster than they are capable of.

Hello,

Don't waste your money and don't be taken in by know-all friends who really don't know very much.

Well, I've got a Snooper S3 Neo, it warns of cameras and schools via GPS and detects laser guns seemingly OK. It's alerted me to lasers on the motorway and around town. Cost me £90, does the job for me.

SO what about the speed guns that do? Thats one less ticket for the OP.

What utter bollocks.

Almost, except for one thing. some jammers work. I have seen various tests on top gear/ fifth gear showing some being effective.
