But the diggers themselves are bloody slow and annoying when you get stuck behind them.

What is it with JCB and publicity at the moment? First the Christmas No.1 (IIRC) and now a land speed record?? WTF?

350mph average over 2 passes now, with vmax of 365 !

Using 2 more or less standard engine blocks from a digger[1] :) Although I would imagine 5.2 bar of turbo pressure isn't standard :)

[1] An engine designed and built in the UK, not often that can be said in conjunction with the words "speed record".

Andys SUPERSONIC engines were oil burners too. Kero. And also built in the UK. Spey gas turbines from a reengined phantom F4

I'd say the majority of the still standing land speed records for cars used UK made engines.
