Depends if you like spending money I suppose. The Pug is faster but the BMW more street cred.

The pug isnt faster at all. lol

The 2.0ltr 24valve wastes it completly (which im also thinking of gettin)

Dunno where u manage to get a 1.9 DIESEL to beat a 2.5 petrol 24 valve ?? lol

I doubt the 320i is much faster - if at all. The 325i probly will be be.

Personally, i wouldn't swop for them cos i don't like beemers or their image, also, its gonna be a shock to the wallet going from 1.9 diesel to 2.5 petrol beemer in the MPG stakes...

Are you sure insurance is the same? Either you're paying too much for the pug or too little for the beemer...

Some stats:

325: 192 hp, 180lbft torque, 1295 kg 320: 147 hp, 140lbft torque, 1270 kg 405: 92hp, 135lbft torque, 1215kg

Turbo diesels are always quicker than an equivalently-powered petrol engine, and on typical a-road and motorway driving, you probably wouldn't notice much performance difference between the 405 and the 320. On B- road driving, or if you are prepared to drop a cog on the motorway, then the 320 would be faster. In all cases, the 325 will be significantly faster than either of the others.

An alternative interpretation of what he said is that the 405 is a well- sorted FWD setup, which is quiicker, point-to-point, for _most_ people than rwd, even a well sorted one like a bmw - you can simply get much closer to the limits of grip and get away with it than in an rwd, especially in damp conditions.

Also, TD's are very easily tunable, even mechanical-pump ones such as the pug, and it would be relatively easy to modify the 405 so that it really was quicker than the 320, and not dissimilar to the 325 in day-to-day driving.

Pug and bmw both 700-800 a yr.

The beemer 0-60 in about 7-8, the 406 - 10, top end it better to. Ie drove a

320i se and its shit loads faster.

according to parkers online insurance group guide, the 406 1.9td is group

The 325 does it in 7.6 according to Parkers, but the 320 is dog slow with a

0-60 of about 10 seconds.

Er, no it's not. The 325i has 192bhp is is group 15. The much slower 320, is group 13. Your 1.9 Diesel Pug is only group 9/10.
