Sounds about right, don't they use some kind of Plasma sprayer contraption to ceramic coat bicycle aluminium rims, so they can make then thinner, lighter, and grippier for braking?

Pah! Low tech recycled saucepan alloy. I wanna TITANIUM one.

The best sledge I ever had a go on was wood with runners about 3 inches wide like a pair of skis. It was about 3ft wide and 6ft long and carried 6 or 8. It was a game of chicken to see who baled out last.
