LOL, beat me to it.
"Have you lowered the suspension?" "Err no, I just got in it."

If it's cheaper than what you sold yours for then your plan sounds entirely reasonable. (OOI how much did you get for it?)
=A32.5k which is about as much as you can hope for for a non V6 Capper.=20 Bloke didn't even try to bid me down so I kind of suspect it was a=20 little on the cheap side.

It's got the curvy haunches too.. weld the doors up, dixie horn and flag on the roof and you're set!
I spy Catch 22?
If you can afford to go drag racing you won't have the time to go drag racing. If you have the time to go drag racing you can't afford it.
Eh?
I have a drag strip 25 miles from my house. How would I not have the time?
One also could point out that drag races are typically only a few seconds long = they're over the quickest of pretty much any motor race.
However that's not the point - the point is that the time is spent doing the preparation - building, fixing, improving the car - the racing is merely when it all comes together.
I was thinking car build and prep time.
Ah right. There's plenty of weekends between now and next April :)
Well there's another Laser I've been pondering over so might go that route. Thanks for the info on the bracing - a morning with a welder would sort that.
If you find a V6 shell, reach down into the lower outer seatbelt mounting area, just behind it is a triangular brace that goes from there to the crossmember the base of the rear seat bolts to. There's that and a pair of triangular plates from the inner wing to bulkhead - dead easy to spot and you'll be looking there for rot anyway.
