SPi to carb MINI conversion

Yup. It never occurred to me to modify an SU needle, but what Burgerman said on the subject made sense.

Any here who also read uk.d-i-y notice how similar Ken is to Drivel?

Indeed. That's what the argument was about. Ken claims his can. I've got one where you can dial in the advance, but have never seen one which can do the same for retard.

Indeed again.

Correct.

Burgerman has earned respect for giving decent advice, particularly on NOS and turbines and "unorthodox engineering". You have been the Usenet clown. So yes, you are unlike.

Incorrect.

Incorrect, your only point in posting is your hysterical need to "prove" something to clueless fuckwits (including yourself). Sadly bozo, you fall over those clown feet of yours so often that all you are is a laughing stock.

There's not much more pathetic than a failed troll.

Not the same person, but the same type of person. Uneducated, largely a failure in life and without friends. Both working in low-status jobs, both comparative failures and fantasists.

The most common thread linking both of them is that neither has a sense of shame. They can be caught out again and again trying to bullshit about a topic to someone who has forgotten more than they will ever know. When caught out they simply increase the bullshit, and never admit that they are wrong.

Are you claiming to having experience of that as well?

Why do they need to? It's on a standard dizzy.

Even worse, it's clearly obvious that a meere Yorki Muncher like myself=20 appears to know far more about tuning than Ken does.

What is funny is his obvious lack of a clue. He seems to think that answering a question with another question makes him look like somethign other than the loser he is.

He obviously thought a few weeks back that challenging me to give him an answer about the addition of toluene to fuel would make me look daft. When I answered his question, pointing out that I'm a qualified chemist, he fell back on his usual mixture of muttered insults and claimed I'd copied my response from a web site. Oddly enough when challenged to supply a URL for the website, he ran away.

Typical Ken response, bullshit, bluster, lies, personal attacks, then run away.

Like his threats that he knew where I lived and he was going to come and attack me. I'm happy for him to try, because he's daft enough to threaten someone he's never met. I'm not a small bloke and I was raised in one of the roughest areas in the country so I don't have any worries about the attentions of a wheezing failure. But of course Ken has balls that would embarrass the average mouse. Indeed he has very tiny lady testicles.

I'm sure no one will forget his craven apology to Burgerman, that was a sight that really turned the stomach.

Excellent chaps, the Boggs. I know someone who went there with a set of bike carbs and a home-made manifold ready to fit to his car, 2 hours later they were fitted and working perfectly and set up on the rollers.

For £70.....

It was a "special" price, but their work is second to none, only downside is the waiting list :)

They are "the best" place for bike carb conversions (and carbs of any sort), bar none IMHO of course.

Must be very rare to have all the jets and needles required to set up bike carbs for use on cars...............they gotta to be good!

Mikunis are mostly M5. Jets fit from weber, delorto, etc Plus They keep packs of 50 0.7mm M5 jets (smallest common size) or "70" jets in stock because you can drill one to any size you need with either a tapered weber jet ream or a pack of tiny jet drills.. They dont need stock. And its very seldom you need different needles on a bike. They are shimmed for hieght and can be raised or lowered at will.

They're actually the UK leaders in fitting bike carbs to cars and are=20 where I get all my cars tuned. My first car I took there was a 1.6=20 Maestro which was tuned by the Bogg Borthers father, Dave, who used to=20 specialise in Maestros as I think he used to compete them. 110BHP from=20

65BHP with nothing more than rejetting a SU fitted with a K&N.=20

I'd say that impossible. All changing the jet/needle combination can do is alter the mixture. Removing the stock filter might improve airflow slightly. But not to the extent of near doubling the power output.

However, unless my memory fails me, the 1600 R Series in single carb form had 81 bhp. The MG 1600 with twin DCOE Webers made only 103. Can't see BL who owned SU going to the expense of twin Webers if a tweak to the single SU gave that much power...

To be fair, I think the reason it was 65BHP when it went in was due to=20 the fact it was my Grandads and he'd owned it from new only using it to=20 potter around town.=20

No idea...can only go on what the dyno showed. Must admit it was more=20 than I expected but it had no issues keeping up with my mates XR3i at=20 the time. I did get rid of the half tonne of crappy plastic which was=20 jokingly used for linking the filter to the carb and replaced it with=20 the same jubilee clip on K&N jobbie that you fit to carbed V8 SD1's.
