Spoiler (again)

Have ditched the old spoiler idea. Now I have a new spoiler idea:

Needs a bit of TLC, but hopefully I'll have it looking something like this:

So whats the best thing to use to restore a rubber spoiler? Someone suggested I need to use a black stain followed by boot polish - anybody have an experience of this or know what else to use?

It's colour coded to your garden wall!

If you can get all the red crap of it, down to pure rubber, how about that tyre shine stuff beloved of 2nd hand car dealers?

Heh, maybe I'll just leave it there then - the most blinged up wall in Southampton!

The red paint looks like it's soaked into the rubber, then someone's tried to spray it back to black. So the black is flaking off, revelaing the red.

It almost looks as if it should be red, but I'm sure Rover didn't do colour coded versions

Sand off the underside to see what colour you end up with, but I'm pretty sure, like you, it's years of paint on top of the original black. Failing that, leave it on the wall, proper chavved up wall that is. :-)

No, I think he's camoflaged the SD1 as a patio.

Sorry, what was I thinking, I mean a row of flowerpots!

Yeah you're probably right.

It's been banished outside to the wall for now though, as I took it out of the packaging in the lounge and all the black flakes of paint fell out over the floor. Not a happy missus!!

Purchased 3 Mountney steering wheels today too, for the grand sum of £22. Need to decide which I like best for the Rover then the other 2 can go back on ebay and hopefully I'll make my money back, and possibly even have enough to pay for the £15 boss.
