The look i'm going for with the cali

I still havn't decided on the alloys yet, but these are pic's of the look i'm going for:

Only with black tint's

Havn't decided if I even want a spoiler yet, or if I will keep the turbo Irmscher one. I also can't decide on alloys either, but i'm leaning toward powder coated black or dark chrome designs.

I saw a calibra with dark tinted head lights which looked really nice, is that legal tho?

the street :D:D:D

hmmm i didn't mind the skyline-ish rip off rear lights, still a cav in drag IMO and that only means the understeer of a smart car (as seen on top gear) IMO tinted headlights?! don't be dim lol can't think of anything more nobbish and is it legal! do you need to ask?

still the 2 pics of the calibra's look ok, don't really make me say 'wow' if i saw it in the street i doubt i'd look twice.

still each to there own a remus ;)

I don't mind it's your opinion which is what I wanted :), btw i'm not putting those stupid transfers on incase you were wondering! Honestly tho the tinted head lights did look kinda funky, since the entire car was black or tinted black, wish I could get a pic to show you :(

Bidding on some cali leather tomorrow on ebay :)

Oh dear...

Look, ffs... just *sell* all the shit off you already have, and go and buy a Calibra that already has leather, is already on the road, and that has an engine that is in place, and is in fully working order.

It will work out far *cheaper* that what you're apparently doing, both in terms of time and money.

I think it was some american cali, i'm going to hopefully get that rear bumper and tail lights. Depending on finances I might also buy a twin exit exhaust system in either dtm or 2x3" but i'm not sure I will be able to afford it untill the summer:

I admit my approach may seem a bit strange, but it's the way I want to go about it. I like to work on my cars so I know them inside and out, you may like to invest heavily straight away so you don't have the hassle. I would prefer to use the nexia to piss about in and gradually work on the Calibra until I think it's ready, because I know that it's structurally sound because I renovated all weak points. I know it's reliable because I rebuilt the engine and can easily take it apart and service/fix it later on.

In other words I would rather spend £2.0k over 6 months and renovate the car than spend £1-1.5k and just stick a body kit on it, with some alloys already on it that I don't really like.

I don't sell the car's on unless I need too. I would rather keep the calibra as a testament to my skill and to re-vist when i'm older. I doubt I would ever sell the Golf because it was my first car! Call me sentimental if you like but it's just how I see it. I put allot of value on my possessions.

Sounds like an expensive but reasonable way to do it. If you want to get to know the car and aren't going to skimp when the money is needed, just to rush finishing a job, and can sit back and say OK, I can wait for that. Well done.

If you have the space to do that, good on you. Bit like JK and Lionel Richie, so when you are a multi millionaire you can look back and say, "This is where I came from".

Eureka! Thank you Carl, at least some one understands. I doubt I will ever be a millionaire tho :P I can just imagine sitting back in the Golf or the Calibra when i'm 30-40 after renovating it again and taking her for a spin (the petrol will probably cost me a bomb but meh :P).

LOL are you taking the piss? A touching and insightful remark if it was ment without ill-intent tho man, doubt i'll become a millionaire but it's somthing to work toward hehe :)

Don't know why I bothered up so close with my stupid samsung e700 cam, it's pretty good as phone cams go but it's crap up close : / It was a mag featured car so it might be legal. Looking at it again, it doesnt look quite as attractive...

Your advice would have been invaluable to the bloke that bought my Carlton Diamond Estate interior off eBay. Went for £205 - that's all seats, plus all 4 leather trimmed door cards. Me a happy chappy.

Right PITA though. Despite stating "collection only" he asked me to meet him halfway (he lived near Loughborough, so somewhere near Oxford, or maybe Northampton), and he'd "give me a few quid for petrol". Like f*ck was I going to do a 3 hour round trip for something I specified "must be collected" and not even get a few quid extra for it. So I told him I'd deliver it for £1/mile, which he thought was "excessive", so he then said he should be able to make it down the next weekend to pick them up.

I then was all set to buy a 1.5TD (Isuzu) Nova van - K reg with 44k on the clock, advertised for £100, but it had only failed an MOT on one tyre and something else really minor, so I offered £200 for it with an MOT, and then asked if he'd be able to tax it (which he could, as he still had a certificate relating to it), so said I could have it for £300, with a year's tax and MOT.

This Nova was in Leeds, so with that in mind, I offered to deliver the seats for £60, dropped them off, guy paid in full, and seemed happy with the condition (I was very accurate in describing them "warts and all") - he actually wanted them to put in a Calibra (Carlton *Estate* seats and door cards? Each to their own......). Then the bloke in Leeds turned into a complete prick and just started messing me about (he'd basically sold the van, despite me phoning up earlier that afternoon checking it was still fine to come and collect it) - he was in the pub with his mates just taking the piss.

Anyway, later on, the buyer leaves me neutral feedback saying "description could have been better". Riiiiiiight - I put detailed pictures of all the significantly worn bits of the seats (and they were all pretty good bar the usual place on the driver's seat), he's buying them to put in a Calibra............oh dear.

You don't need to 'invest' heavily, to buy a decent Calibra 16v, with leather - I could have had one on nice 17s with full leather for £900 a couple of months ago.

Bar the usual noisy when cold tappets, it seemed pretty good for the money.

As stated ages ago, I paid £350 or thereabouts for one without leather a few months ago, taxed, MOT'ed, fitted with a set of 17" League Tantrums and Momo Champion steering wheel.

And I used it... reliably up until I sold it on.

Much as I still like the styling, they're on the whole worth peanuts now unless a well sorted Turbo or tidy V6.

And there's nothing to stop anyone working on a car that actually works in the first place, if they're that fussed, is there...
