It's not the wrong car, it's just that simply having a towbar is the wrong reason to buy a car. (c:

Noooo!

Sounds like a right shed.

How much will an alternator cost for it? - plus, although the camchain won't need replacing, it's almost certainly due a set of tensioners ASAP.

I love MkIII VR6s. But I'd spend the money and get a decent one.

The scary bit is that my search criteria amounted to "Golf Towbar".

Not sure a hairdresser spec Golf is the right thing for towing the car trailer right enough. Nice sensible diesel estate makes much more sense...

Dunno, why not ask the chap that's selling it. He's included another one in the sale.

Good point. I got bored of waiting for the super-slow photo hosting and closed the window before getting that far.

I suspected as much.

Straight swap for the hairdresser spec Golf? (c:

In news: snipped-for-privacy@bt.com, Bob Sherunckle wittered on forthwith;

It's unfortunately gone beyond the realms of sense for a Mk3 Golf now though.

I'd have a VR6 for that money if it'd had the suspension properly sorted, some sort of improved gearshift and quite possibly better brakes. Unfortunately those bits would quite probably cost more than the car..

A VR6 powered Mk2 Golf for that money would be lovely though, shame it'll probably never happen.

You got any idea what an ABF costs? Tempted to shove one of those in when I get a chance.
