This would make a fantastic british based streetrod.

Just about the only ford I would consider, this or a Pop, or a Model Y

Light roof chop, a megasquirted Zetec, Alfa, or Vaux twin cam. Uprate the axles/brakes/steering from the various ford parts bins and anything extra made up.

Wonder how much of a Seirra 4x4 with a rover V8 I could squeeze under that?

Would definatley make it look more like a 1940's phatrod than a traditional 1930's job. But could be fun with some slightly over wide wings and running boards.

I think I watch too much Discovery Real Time.

None of it. You'd need to be /really/ creative to get anything other than a Sierra 4x4 engine attached to Sierra 4x4 running gear ;)

Biggest Rover V8 you can find, make it a 2 seater with a relocated bulkhead. RWD only, none of this 4x4 nonesense :)

Nooooo! That's a very charming original classic [1] only a heretic would do that to ti.

You are indeed. I suppose a retro rod could be made. More modern brakes, suspension, engine and gearbox, but with wider steel wheels, period style paint, brightwork refurbished, and a period but updated interior (not modern hitech, but modern features on door cards with chrome fittings).

Nah, keep it four seater for practicality.

I reckon removing that false bulkhead where the battery sits, and moving the radiator fully forward, a Rover V8 would slot home nicely.

Hmm true, seen a 4x4 Saph based ford pop with wide wheels and arches. Ddn't look quite right, but bet it went well enough.

Hows about this for a plan then? Rangerover V8 underpinnings. I've seen a rangerover engine/trans/suspension (full 4x4) squeezed into a widebodied Fiat 126, so this should prove a doddle with some panel beating.

With landrovers, though, it can't be too hard to get a 4x4 transmission that'll fit a v8 :)

Probably weigh more than the Titanic though.

Engine bay is way too small. Better bet for a street rod would be a Mark II Jag.
